SVA Galleries Call for Entries: 2020 Visions

The Class of 2020 was affected as no other in the history of SVA. Among other adversities, many of you were deprived of a gallery exhibition this past spring. We now invite all Class of 2020 graduates to submit work created during this unprecedented year for a forthcoming juried exhibition. 

 

The theme of this exhibition is our current time. You may submit works in any medium you choose, so long as they reference the year 2020. Submissions will be evaluated by a jury of notable SVA alumni. Accepted entries will be included in an exhibition at SVA Chelsea Gallery—if conditions permit—in November 2020.*
 

The jury will review all submitted works, evaluate them individually based on quality and consistency, on their pertinence to the exhibition theme, and rate each accordingly.

 

SVA Galleries will organize and design the exhibition based on the accepted entries. We will notify you of the status of your submissions by the end of October 2020.
 

* If a physical exhibition is not possible due to the on-going health crisis, the exhibition will be held online, where SVA Galleries has a viewership of several thousand per show.

ELIGIBILITY:

You are a graduate of the SVA Class of 2020.

 

REQUIRED MATERIALS:

• You may upload up to three (3) pieces as three (3) separate submissions
• You may upload up to three (3) files representing each work you wish to exhibit. Composite images of one work are accepted as long as they depict different views of that same work.
• Video/Moving Image: The maximum length the platform can accept for any single work is two (2) minutes. Please cut a trailer if necessary. This up-to-two-minute video file would be included in the physical exhibition along with a QR code to view the larger project. You may include a YouTube/Vimeo link to the full piece if you wish. All audio should be mixed in 2-channel stereo with a target of 0 db.
• Artist statement: optional, not required.
• Collaborations: please note this in the artwork description field and list all collaborators. (Note: collaborators must be SVA 2020 graduates.) 
• IMPORTANT: Save all of your materials on your local hard drive before applying. The call for entries platform allows 24 minutes per submission before logging you out.
